Elementary School Teacher in North Kingstown Holly Champlin Mather Dies at 45

Holly Champlin Mather passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at home after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer on July 15, 2021. Born at South County Hospital and raised in Narragansett, she was the daughter of Michael and Denise (Johnston) Champlin. A South Kingstown resident, she was the wife of Jim and the proud mother of her greatest legacy, her children Jameson and Janie. Holly leaves behind her beloved sister, Laurel, and her partner Mike Lodge, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and amazing friends.  Read more here.

Holly Champlin Mather died quietly at home on July 15, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Michael and Denise (Johnston) Champlin, and was born at South County Hospital and raised in Narragansett. She had lived in South Kingstown her entire life and was the proud mother of Jameson and Janie, her greatest legacy. Holly is survived by her sister Laurel, her partner, Mike Lodge as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She attended Narragansett High School, Mitchell College, and the University of Rhode Island, among other schools. Holly spent 16 years as an elementary school teacher in the North Kingstown School District. She enjoyed going to the beach and being outside. Throughout the years, she has rescued a large number of dogs. She adored working with children and, above all, spending time with her own.

Smith's Castle in North Kingstown, RI

Smith's Castle is a house museum in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, located at 55 Richard Smith Drive near Wickford. It is one of the oldest houses in the state, having been established in 1678. The first English colony in South County was located here. Weddings, memorials, graduation celebrations, workplace picnics, and family reunions can all be held on the grounds of the Castle. At certain hours of the day, docents dressed in period attire provide guided tours of the house. They also host historical reenactments and educational activities for both adults and children and have a museum gift shop with a broad variety of products for sale.
